Creating Magic Items
Creating Magic Items:
Disjuncting (Destroying) Magic Items:
Spell: Arcane Disjunction
Casting Time: 1 minute
Components: V, S
Duration: Concentration (1 hour)
You lay your hands upon a magic item or artifact and speaks words of unbinding. The arcane energy in the item can make a Wisdom saving throw using its rarity as a bonus for its save (common +0, uncommon +1, etc.) plus the spell level in the item. If it fails its saving throw, the item or artifact slowly becomes “disjunct.” It takes a full minute, per level of the spell inside the item, to be unraveled. Disjunct objects become permanently mundane, losing all magical properties.
Though this spell can destroy the magic in items without many repercussions, causing artifacts to become disjunct is risky and rather dangerous. When casting this spell on an artifact, make a spell saving throw vs. your spell save DC. If you fail the saving throw, you permanently lose all spell casting abilities. Destroying artifacts is a dangerous business, and it is likely to attract the attention of some powerful being who has an interest in or connection with the device whether disjuncted or not.
